Discover a retelling of some of Japan’s spookiest stories in manga form!
If you’re a fan of Japanese folktales and mythology, you are likely familiar with yokai, spirits and entities prevalent throughout Japanese folklore whose behavior could range from being friendly and helpful to mischievous or malevolent. Join us for a special author talk in time for Halloween with manga author Sean Michael Wilson for a discussion of his manga adaptation of seven of Lafcadio Hearn’s classic Japanese ghost tales written between 1890 and 1904. Hear from Sean the process of adapting these traditional tales into a manga format, and enjoy a reading of one of the book’s ghost stories! The program will include an audience Q&A for Sean to answer some of your questions too!
