Places like the Daily Mail focus on celebrity to a huge extent. But the Guardian also does it far more than they should. Almost everyday there is a ‘star leftie this’ or ‘celebrity liberal that’ article.
"The task of all citizens is to understand what we are seeing. The world as portrayed is not the world as it is. The personification of complex issues confuses and misdirects us, ensuring that we struggle to comprehend and respond to our predicaments. This, it seems, is often the point."
As Chomsky has said in a comment meant to downplay his own celebrity: “We dont need heroes. What we need are good ideas.”
