This campaign is a very good thing and nice to see class added to that list, as a reflection of the growing awareness that we need to focus on economic inequality as well, in tandem with a focus on gender and race.
But it needs to go further than that. Sport is horribly polluted by the economic profit factor, right from the massive salaries the rich players... down to local clubs and youth centers desperate for funds for even simple things like decent uniforms for the kids.
Wide scale economic reform should happen in football and many sports, so that the money is spread out to benefit the local areas the clubs are based in. There should be a universal rule brought in saying that at least, say, 25% (and why not even more?) of the revenue of places like Manchester United has to go to local youth clubs, sports centers and other things for the people of Manchester... or Barcelona or Glasgow or Munich, etc. Rather than into the pockets of an already very rich elite.
So, while the current campaign is a good one, im looking forward to the day the symbol says:
'Economic Exploitation Wont Win'.
Or is that too radical a way to make society better?
